Hermel came to the USA in 1969. He worked for Barretto Granite for a time, but the logger bug would not let him go. He met and married Rae Randall in 1971 and in 1974 they bought their first cable skidder and Hermel went to work with his brother Claremont. That is not, however, where it all started.Hermel Pelletier was born in St. Adalbert, PQ, Canada. He started working in logging camps when he was a teen. The first camp was in St. Michel des Saint, Quebec. He also worked in Saunmore, Clova, and Parent, County of Abbitibi, Quebec. Forestville and Baiecomo, Quebec, Timmins and Rapid des Joachins, Ontario. There were many long train rides in those days and many months away from family.
His father, Agenard, and his brother, Langis, also worked in some of these camps with him. One of our former long time employees here in N.H., Adalbert Godbout, also worked in the camps with Hermel.
Over the many years in New Hampshire, many of Hermel's brothers and his father have worked for us. Our Son, Lyle Brundige and our daughters, Dorie Ann Smith and Angela Sennott, along with our sons-in-laws have and some still work for us. We have a mixture of young and older loggers, all with experience behind them and ready to learn the modern techniques and safety regulations.
We started in 1974 as Hermel Pelletier Logging, in 1992 we incorporated to Monadnock Landclearing & Chipping, Inc. We are family owned and operated, proud of what we have accomplished and look forward to a bright and prosperous future.
